India evacuates its nationals from Israel

(MENAFN) India has announced plans to evacuate its citizens who wish to leave Israel due to the escalating military conflict between Israel and Iran. On Thursday, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged nationals to register with the Indian embassy in Tel Aviv.

“In response to recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India will facilitate the evacuation of Indian nationals wishing to depart Israel,” the ministry stated. Evacuations will be carried out via land borders followed by flights back to India.

The embassy in Tel Aviv advised Indian residents to stay alert and follow safety instructions issued by Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command. Approximately 18,000 Indians live in Israel, mostly caregivers for the elderly, along with diamond traders, IT workers, and students. Additionally, Israel is home to about 85,000 Jews of Indian descent.

India is also conducting evacuations from Iran. Earlier this week, 110 Indian students in Tehran were escorted by road to Yerevan, Armenia, under supervision from Indian diplomatic missions. These students were flown back to India early Thursday. India currently has over 4,000 citizens in Iran, with half being students.
