India Prepares Evacuating Citizens from Israel
On Thursday, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged its citizens to register with the Indian embassy located in Tel Aviv.
“In view of the recent developments between Israel and Iran, the Government of India has decided to evacuate from Israel those Indian nationals who wish to leave,” the ministry stated in an official press release.
“Their travel from Israel to India will be facilitated through the land borders and thereafter by air to India.”
The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv advised Indian nationals to “remain vigilant and strictly follow the safety guidelines issued by the Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.”
Approximately 18,000 Indian citizens currently reside in Israel, mainly working as caregivers for elderly Israelis, according to the embassy.
The Indian community in Israel also includes diamond traders, IT experts, and students. Additionally, about 85,000 Jews of Indian descent live in Israel.
