Trump Against Israeli Annexation of West Bank

(MENAFN) President Donald Trump stands firmly against Israeli annexation of the occupied West Bank, a correspondent Barak Ravid disclosed Monday.

"A stable West Bank keeps Israel secure and is in line with this administration's goal to achieve peace in the region," Ravid reported on X, the U.S. social media platform, attributing the statement to a White House official.

Trump has previously signaled opposition to Israeli territorial expansion in the occupied West Bank.

Sunday witnessed Israel's security cabinet authorize sweeping measures: abolishing legislation that prohibited Jewish land purchases from Palestinians in the West Bank, opening sealed property ownership files, and shifting construction permit powers in a Hebron settlement zone from Palestinian municipal control to Israel's civil administration.

The directives additionally extend Israeli regulatory authority and enforcement mechanisms into zones designated Area A and Area B, justified by claimed infractions involving unauthorized development, water resource management and harm to archaeological and ecological locations.

Across the previous three years, Israeli authorities have advanced blueprints for approximately 50,000 settlement housing units throughout the West Bank, while simultaneously seizing 60,000 dunams—equivalent to 14,826 acres—of territory during wartime operations.

The International Court of Justice issued a historic ruling in July 2024 declaring Israel's occupation of Palestinian lands unlawful, demanding complete withdrawal of all settlements from the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
